Lack of water in the desert, huge ascent to the Andes, altitude sickness, cold at 5000m, snakes, tropical diseases, diarrhoea, crocodiles, jaguars, mosquitoes, heat and humidity.

Journey across the Amazon basin, going through the Atacama desert and the Andes. This incredible expedition took Juan through totally different environments, including heat, cold and humidity. It gave him the unique opportunity to to ride through remote and unspoilt places in the Amazon, to live with the local people and to see the Amazonian Indian reserves. All kinds of things happened: ants made holes in his tent, there were mechanical problems and it was insanely difficult to pedal through the jungle mud. At the age of 22, he became the youngest of a small number of people to have cycled across the Amazonian rainforest
