Corrección primer post en inglés
Patagonia is the first part of a double project that I face this year. If all goes well, when I finish here I will fly directly to the United States to cross its main deserts.
Patagonia is an expedition-training preceding my journey through North America.
Naturally, nothing is easy so I come here with the maximum respect as things can become really difficult.
The first part is through the mythical “Carretera Austral”, a classic itinerary that any bicycle traveller must do once in a lifetime.
I was planning to do it since long ago and I strongly believe this is a fantastic opportunity, especially considering the kilometers and getting in shape.
The second part of the expedition is going to be more complicated, as I will be South enough to be affected by the rapid changes of the Patagonian climate. For sure, it is going to be a lonely route.
Altogether, I hope to do around 2300km divided into 30-35 stages starting at Port Montt (Chile), and reaching Tierra de Fuego at the end, possibly Ushuaia. However, it depends on how I cope with timing in the final part. I prefer the quality of kilometers rather than quantity.
This is the general itinerary, subject to changes on the route for security/logistics reasons, or if I find something more interesting or difficult.
Best regards,
Fearless Juan
